THIS WEEK IN….

ELA: In Spelling we are learning to spell words that are homographs. In Reading we will be continuing to focus on reading comprehension from now until the end of the year. We will also focus on Making connections as we read and reviewing text features. In Grammar we will be learning prepositions and prepositional phrases. Our weekly Spelling test this week will be on Friday and our unit test will be on Friday also.

MATH: We will review and complete our unit on 3-digit subtraction this week and will have our test on Friday.

SCIENCE: We will begin our unit on plant and animal life cycles. We will start the unit learning about plant life cycles and continue on to animal life cycles.

SOCIAL STUDIES: We will begin our unit on knowing that people, families, and communities all have a history, beginning with the unit of Life Then and Now.

Tuesday – ELA page 470; Math pages 169-170

Wednesday – ELA worksheet; Math pages 497-498

THIS WEEK IN….

ELA: In Reading we will be continuing to focus on reading comprehension from now until the end of the year. We will be working hard on comprehension this week. We are continuing to work on main idea and details as well as text features this week. We are also continuing to work on our letter writing skills this week. We will not have a Spelling test this week or a Unit test, but will have daily classwork grades this week.

MATH: . We are continuing our unit on 3-digit subtraction. Our test will be after the break.

SCIENCE: We are continuing our unit on energy, force, and motion. We are starting our lesson on Gravity.

SOCIAL STUDIES: We are learning about the benefits and costs in saving and spending money.

ELA: In Spelling we are learning to spell words with kn, wr, gn, mb, lf. In Reading we will be continuing to focus on reading comprehension from now until the end of the year. This is our review week so we will not have a new story this week and we will be focusing on skills we have learned the last five weeks to include cause and effect, friendly letters, text features, author’s purpose, and theme. Our weekly Spelling test this week will be on Thursday and our unit test will be on Friday.

MATH: . We are finishing up our unit on 3-digit addition and will have our test on Tuesday. We will begin strategies for 3-digit subtraction on Wednesday.

SCIENCE: We are continuing our unit on energy, force, and motion. We are learning about magnets. We will have a quiz on Thursday.

SOCIAL STUDIES: We are continuing our unit on trading goods. We will have a quiz on Thursday.
