THIS WEEK IN….

ELA: In Spelling we are learning to spell words with closed syllables VC/V. In Reading we will be continuing to focus on reading comprehension from now until the end of the year. Our text this week will be a biography. We will be going over text structure and reviewing asking and answering questions as we read. In grammar we will be reviewing adjectives and adverbs. Our spelling and weekly unit test will both be on Friday.

MATH: We are finishing our unit on time and money. We will be reviewing Monday and Tuesday and will have our unit test on Wednesday. We will begin a new unit on numbers up to 1,000 on Thursday.

SCIENCE: We will be beginning our unit on energy, force, and motion.

SOCIAL STUDIES: We will be learning about why people produce and consume goods. We will have our test on Thursday or Friday.

ELA: In Spelling we are learning to spell words with /s/ spelled c and /j/ spelled g and dge. In Reading we have a review week where we are reviewing the skills we have gone over the last five weeks. We will be focusing on reading comprehension from new until the end of the year. We will also be reviewing text features and comparing/contrasting two similar texts this week. We will have our Spelling test and unit test covering the skills and vocabulary/high frequency words we have been working on the last six weeks on Friday.

MATH: We are continuing our unit on time.

SCIENCE: We will be beginning our unit on energy, force, and motion.

SOCIAL STUDIES: We are taking this week to focus on Martin Luther King, Jr. and the contributions he has made.

SCIENCE: We will continue our unit on changes in matter, focusing on changes caused by temperature.

SOCIAL STUDIES: We are continuing our unit on needs and wants. We will be continuing it to making good choices.
