This Week in….

ELA: In spelling we are working on compound words. In grammar we are introducing adverbs. In Reading we are continuing to practice retelling stories. We will have the spelling test and chapter test both on Friday.

MATH: We will begin learning money this week.

SCIENCE: We are continuing to learn about force and motion. We will have a quiz on Thursday.

SOCIAL STUDIES: We will be learning about producing and consuming goods.

ELA – We are learning words with ou/ow/oi/oy sounds in spelling. In grammar we are continuing adjectives with adjectives that compare. In comprehension we are still working on sequencing and reviewing fact and opinion and questioning as we read. We will have our unit test and spelling test on Friday.

MATH – We are continuing 2-digit addition and subtraction in word problems. We will have our chapter test on Friday. Please continue working on math facts with your child. This is an important foundational skill to have as we move on to harder problems.

SCIENCE – We are continuing force and motion with pushes and pulls. We will have our assessment on Friday.

SOCIAL STUDIES – We are discussing making choices determined by cost and benefit.

Math: We will review Topic 6 and complete an additional assessment on Tuesday. We will be beginning another unit on word problems using addition and subtraction.

Science: We are continuing our unit on Force and Motion. We will complete our unit on using energy and have an assessment on Monday. We will continue anther section of the chapter learning about Force and Motion.

Social Studies: We are finishing our unit on Needs and Wants. We will have an assessment on Tuesday. We will begin a new section on Making Choices.

ELA: We are learning vowel sounds oo and u in spelling. We are continuing adjectives and introducing antonyms. We are practicing sequencing in reading.

READING – In spelling we are working on words with a final syllable of -le.  In grammar we are introducing adjectives starting with adjectives and our senses.  In comprehension we are practicing drawing conclusions and using background knowledge.

MATH – We are reviewing 2-digit subtraction at the beginning of the week.  We will have our chapter test on Thursday.  We will begin 2-digit addition and subtraction review on Friday.

SCIENCE – We are beginning our unit on Using Energy this week.

SOCIAL STUDIES – We are beginning our unit on Working to Meet our Needs emphasizing on needs and wants this week.
