This Week In….

ELA: In Spelling we are learning to spell words with Long o: o, oa, ow. In Reading we will review Informational Text and Text Features. I have assigned a Leveled Reader to your child through Savvas Realize to help them practice reading fluency and comprehension. In Grammar we will focus on Collective Nouns. Our weekly Spelling and Reading tests this week will be on Thursday (No school Friday)!

Math: We will begin Topic 5: Subtract Tens and Ones on a Hundred Chart.

Science: We will continue – Unit 2: Properties of Matter.

Social Studies: Begin Chapter 2: Working to Meet Our Needs.

This Week In….

ELA: In Spelling we are learning to spell words with Long e: ee, ea, ey, y. In Reading we will learn about Fiction stories and character traits. Please make sure your child is reading the Leveled Reader in their Blue Folder each night to help them practice reading fluency. In Grammar we will focus on Possessive Nouns. Our weekly Spelling and Reading tests this week will be on Friday.

Math: We will finish Topic 4: Fluently Add Within 100. All students now have the Base Ten Blocks to help them do their math homework. They may use these for the test. Topic 4 Test on Friday.

Science: Unit 2: Properties of Matter.

Social Studies: Lesson 6: Our Countries Symbols. Unit Test on Friday.

ELA: In Spelling we are learning to spell words with the vowel digraph -ie. In Reading we will review Realistic Fiction, Setting, and Plot. Every Monday I will be putting a book in your child’s folder that they may keep. I would like them to read the book each night to help them practice reading fluency. In Grammar we will focus on Common and Proper Nouns. Our weekly Spelling and Reading tests this week will be on Friday.

Math: We will continue Topic 4: Fluently Add Within 100. All students now have the Base Ten Blocks to help them do their math homework. Please leave in Blue Folder so they can bring it back and forth to use at school.

In Grammar we will focus on irregular and plural nouns. Our weekly Spelling and Reading tests this week will be on Friday.
